This course's tee boxes, mowed fairways, heavy rough and sloped greens are beautifully color blended. The green and color of the trees are mixed with palms and add to the ambiance of this course. The undergrowth is thick and is placed effectively. He uses both rock for trim and decoration along with large boulders and a stream that runs throughout the majority of holes. The beautiful buildings and decorative objects that John is known for are all there for your viewing pleasure. All of this and more make for a feast for the eyes.
The fairways and greens are heavily guarded by many bunkers both large and small and are either placed where they can do the most harm or good depending if you land in them or not. Occasionally there is a large one placed along a moderately narrow fairway, the chances of landing in it are slim but just having them there can make you plan your shot a little more carefully. The undulating, sloped, and moderate sized fairways are fascinating to play. The elevations and the caddie were excellent. The majority of greens are well guarded by bunkers that can catch you but are not placed so you don't have a chance to sneak in, well done. The greens are a little sloped but I found them not to be impossible to get that occasionally birdie. The stream can be a hazard if you let it, but when it's there you are aware of its danger
4th hole, par 5, 505y, two fairways, no waiting, the left one is littered with well placed bunkers and the right one is clear but can you clear the trees, yes. After a drive of 280y, I had 233y left to the flag. I aimed slightly to the right of the flag to clear any bunkers and landed on the green with good positioning for a long putt.
10th hole, par 5, 569y, 35.7ft down, this is the hole with the 'babes' on the beachJ. The fairway is well guarded by bunkers on opposite sides, positioned exactly where your drive will land, caution must be exercised here. I went up the left side and cleared the bunker but the sloped elevated fairway made my ball bounce to the right near the other bunker. At 304y I had 262y to the green. My 3w uphill only went 229y but not close enough to land in the greens bunkers. With a 37y approach shot I found this to be a most enjoyable hole to play.
12th hole, par 4, 487y, here again I had the choice of two fairways. The right one has a huge bunker that says land in me; the left is bunker free but is surrounded on three sides by water. To me the left was the natural choice and my safe drive of 285y proved that. I had 202y to the pin but with the added elevation I chose an adjusted 3 iron, it proved to be a good choice.
This course by John is an excellent one to follow his magnificent Medinah course. Each and every hole is well, thought out and beautifully laid out. His buildings are a marvel. The whole course is a pleasure to play. Just when you think the last hole was a challenge he comes up with a new one to test you. It isn't an impossible course to play, just the opposite it makes you plan and think about each hole and then if you do a good job of planning you can get that birdie you wanted. I was thoroughly pleased with the course and the game I had on it. I recommend this course to you for download without a moments hesitation. Play it and enjoy it.
