LINKS CORNER REVIEW |
Reviewed by James Wood
First Impressions:
This is a fictional course with a park style setting. Set at the base of Whistler's Mountain it is a fairly long course off the tees. Quite a few of the shapes are stock and the bunkers and water have been extruded but the edge was not turned. The greens are fairly large with some contour to them but they are fairly easy to putt on. The planting is a mixture of pines and other trees. Some of the planting has been done in repetitive rows. There has been no under planting done here. There are a few other objects to be seen such as ball washes, buildings, fences, trashcans, etc.
Strategy:
Only one of the par 5's is reachable in two shots but there is a par 4 that could be reached under the right conditions. A pond guards that green however and a good shot is necessary to pull it off. There are a lot of doglegs but no reason not to take a straight shot at the fairway because nothing is preventing it. Scoring here really just depends on how well you're hitting your long irons that day.
Favorite Hole:
The par 3 14th is a downhill 4 iron and there is quite a drop off in elevation.
Overall:
Some bad edges and the stock bunker and green shapes should be avoided. The planting that was done in rows is another error. A good first design however. I would not recommend downloading the course since there are too many better options.
