1st, par 4, the deceptive slope in front of the green can catch you off guard, allow for it.
3rd, par 4, beautiful rock treatment along bay, greens very well guarded.
4th, par 5, if I can get through this maze I expect a piece of cheese. I feel this is the most interesting hole on the course... the green is guarded by three bunkers. After a good 2nd shot, a lw to the green makes a birdie very possible.
17th, par 4, a most enjoyable drive can be had on this hole by cutting straight across the fairway just below the green 287y. Then in a lw 42y, to the green sets you up for a birdie. By the way, before going for the green, stop and look at the pano, it's beautifully detailed. Great drive, great pano, great birdie, what else could a player want.
18th par 4, There isn't a great finish here, a well guarded green but on my 94y shot to the green the caddie suggested a pw. With one click down in trajectory (setup) my sw did it's job.
There is nothing "remarkable" about the other holes except you will not find this the usual hit long fairway and putt type course.
The unusual colors of the tees, fairways, meadows, and greens, blend well and it's not the ordinary, finely mowed course we are accustomed to seeing. The brown sand bunkers fit with the motif of this barren course.
The greens are, for the most part, well guarded.
The sound was great, nothing can beat the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks or soft desert winds, No desert here, but the water sounds were a pleasure to hear. But,if you don't have a powerful cpu, the sounds can make this the most excruciatingly slow rendering course I have ever encountered. You can go to the sound in your game options and shut off "environmental sound" and the game will play at a normal speed.
This course will remind you of Larchenhof, and Eichenried but much more beautiful and more of a challenge to play. Needless to say I did not miss the ubiquitous mountain. This is not a course you're accustomed to playing, with it's barren landscape and narrow winding, but hitable, fairways, undulating and strange elevations on the fairways and very puttable greens. Don't leave yourself short here, this can make for an interesting and entertaining change from the ordinary.
This course is not for everyone especially the faint of heart with the many blind spots and the very annoying course markers. In most cases you have to let the caddie choose your club because of the unusual elevations. To be perfectly honest with you I like to pick and choose how I play my own game.
If you're a fan of the unique, choose this beautifully made, most unusual course. But if you're a hit and putt player, go get The Heritage, a distant cousin to this course and more user friendly. I enjoyed my round of golf here but won't put this course on my steady diet list. Don't let that deter you from trying it.
I haven't played it so I can't speak with any authority, but the tournament edition of this course is said not to have the sound, smaller download, better rendering, wider fairways, and the course markers have been removed. This would make it more appealing to more players. I'd say get it.
