| COURSE NOTES |
This is a handicapping addition to the course.
Mammoth Dunes at Sand valley is located nearly in the middle of the state of Wisconsin, US. This area was "flattened" by a slow moving glacier in the Ice Age, which resulted in low hills and shallow valleys along with an abundance of sandy soil.
Scottish born David McLay Kidd designed this course so that it would remain as "natural" as possible, and not require moving a lot of earth. The elevation changes aren't very severe, but the massive , natural waste bunkers definitely provide a challenge. It has a few "blind" fairway shots, and long carries that you may want "lay up" for ( unless you're fond of bunker play ! ). The course measures 6,988 yds. from the back tees, and the longest hole is the 560 yd. par 5, 7th. Also noticeably absent are any water hazards. The course can be both fun to play, and a quit a challenge as well. Enjoy !
Other courses Mr. Kidd has designed are: Bandon Dunes, GrayBull, and TPC Stonebrae, among others.
Credits for the course are as follows:
Course Design using Lidar DEM, plus all textures and forest planting: Sage Vanni
Final Planting: Ron Weel
