COURSE NOTES |
Here is the latest update for Augusta National.
I was able to utilize the 2022.11 Google Earth imagery to finalize the tee positions and green shapes for the course. This imagery proved to be the best to date and aligned very well to the 2018 DEM.
This course uses custom texture properties. I utilized the "Other" texture type in the APCD for the Fringe. This texture plays the same as Mc fairways but rolls at a Stimp of 10. Visually the fringe now looks the same as the fairway but the ball will roll differently. Keep in mind that the properties of the Fringe will now remain the same and will not change with different green settings.
There are also custom properties available for the Green Hardness and Green Speed when selected in the game setup. These settings make the fairways play the same as Mc fairways but roll at a Stimp of 5, and greens play the same as Mc greens but roll at a Stimp of 15. This makes the greens play receptive to good shots and the ball will roll better with the terrain slopes.
The "Back" tees makes the course play to 7130 yards and is roughly the appropriate length for play in Links with standard club distances. The "Ladies" tees stretches the course to the maximum length of 7680 yards. "Middle" and "Forward" tees are additional tournament tee options. "Junior" tees are members tees at 6355 yards.
The Easy pin positions are tournament pin positions used over the last decade or so. The 0 pin positions are meant to be the Sunday tournament pin positions but the historical positions vary on some of the holes. Pins 1 - 5 are additional tournament pin positions that are used in any round. The Moderate and Difficult pins are additional pin positions based on green slopes less than about 3%.
There is still no 3D club house or tournament objects and crowds. I started making 3D tournament objects but did not have the time to get them planted for this year. I'll likely do one more update for the course. If anyone wants to contribute 3D models the help would be appreciated! |
