| COURSE NOTES |
Welcome to my APCD rendition of Mauna Kea Golf Course, one of the original MS/Access courses for Links.
This APCD course was built from a high-resolution (3-metre) DEM, supplied by Linkster. The greens were constructed manually from detailed (1.2 inch) contour maps.
The background to the course is contained in the detailed course notes which is included in the download.
I first commenced my APCD design of MK in 2017. It was abandoned a year later, about 50% complete. On a whim, whilst growing frustrated with planting another course, I asked Linkster to see if we could obtain a high-res DEM for MK. When I saw the mesh he was able to provide, I immediately focused all my APCD efforts on restarting MK again.
It seemed to be a golf course - with its sharp elevation charges, undulating fairways and unique ridged and rolling greens - made for a high-res DEM.
I hope you enjoy the amazing Mauna Kea - a true "ocean course" where you have views of the Pacific Ocean from 16 of its greens.
