COURSE NOTES
I started the Banff Springs project many years ago, as part of the Microsoft upgrade project @apcd-courses.com. The design of this 27-hole course has been suspended numerous times. The last time was about 5 years ago, as my frustrations grew over not being able to get the trees the way I wanted them to look. It drove me nuts.

I finally picked it up again about a month ago, and this beta release is the result.

This Thompson 18 version will be followed by Banff Tunnel Mountain. Id imagine that will be released within the next month or two. It will feature Thompsons first 9, plus the alternate 9 holes at Banff.

My frustrations with getting the trees right, continues. I will leave the final release unlocked, for anyone who wants to have a go at replanting it. I did an OK job in the end, and I hope you find it captures the feel of Banff Springs. But some real problems with how many lodgepole pines I needed to complete the course compared with what I could actually make or get my hands on (and then making them look like they actually belong to the one course). I make no apologies for any clones.

This course is very heavily planted. The weeds are all play-through, but you will find yourself with a tall grass lie in those areas. I have also put in place some pretty strict OOB rules, just for the sake of decent gameplay on a course like this.

Big thanks to Daniel for his beautiful pano and to Paul Seaman & Pete Beckwith for their textures. And a special mention to Armand who drove down to Banff one day just to take some photos. It must have been wierd to see him there on my behalf, turning his back on all the spectacular scenes of the national park and taking photos of tee areas, bear-proof bins and signs! Thanks Armand (and for pitching in with the hole previews too).

This beta release has no crowds or sounds. I will leave that until the final release. Appreciate your feedback and suggestions for the final release.

Hope you enjoy Banff.

Colin
