Black Forest, the biggest surprise, and best value in Gaylord. Before architect Tom Doak gave us Pacific Dunes, Cape Kidnappers, and restored Pasatiempo, he designed this course in 1991. Doak, who lives in Traverse City, says this is where he started experimenting with some of the bunkering concepts he uses today. Golf Digest rates Black Forest as being just as much golf course as Arcadia Bluffs or Forest Dunes.
The APCD rendition of this course presented many challenges. First was getting the GIS elevation data and Google Earth locations to match up, using a program called 3DEM made things easier, but converting different global positioning data into compatible xyz
formats was a chore.
Have fun Playing it.
Thanks,
Zea Miller
