LINKS CORNER REVIEW |
Reviewed by James Wood
First Impressions:
This is a fictional course with a park style setting and it is another good effort by Bob Fournier. The custom tee markers and hole signs should be mentioned because they were very well done. The planting consists of brightly colored trees mixed with greens. No under planting has been done but there are some custom objects and some very good rock walls. The bunkers were well done and so were the water hazards. A few stock bunker and green shapes were used. The greens are very puttable and there are a few tiered greens. The fairways have some good elevation changes making you think about club selection. The tee boxes have been extruded and there is good planting around all of them.
Strategy:
The designer never takes the driver out of your hands here even on the doglegs. There are five par 5's and two of them are reachable. The par 5 9th hole is an excellent risk/reward shot with a second shot over the trees into a green guarded by a waste area in front. Some of the par 3's are very long. Scoring though is fairly easy here with generous fairways and greens.
Favorite Hole:
The par 3 7th hole has a very nice view off of the tee box.
Overall:
A lot of custom objects were included, as we have become accustomed to from Mr. Fournier and you have to applaud that kind of effort. As always his courses are interesting to play and well executed. This course is no exception. I would recommend this course.
