COURSE NOTES
Final Release:
Many changes have been made with consideration to comments from the Beta testers.

Many greenside trees were replaced with sand bunkers, a "sound" environment was added - nothing really obnoxious, just different types of birds to give the course a natural feeling.

Hole previews were added, and I tried to accomodate the different types of users; ie Elite, Pro, ect, ect.

Each hole has 3 sets of (5)pins for each difficulty of play, and 5 'T's.

Hope you enjoy the course!

Zea Miller

CLIPNOTES by Ben Bateson (ousgg)

Description
Fictional, heathland course
Location
None given - could be a midwest course, but it\'s only a guess
Conditions
Some greens are unplayable unless you stick to S*/S*
Concept  3/10
Gimmick courses are always a little concerning, and on this occasion it\'s sad to see the gimmick of splitting up fairways with trees (and greens with bunkering) hasn\'t worked out. It\'s obvious more time has been spent on the gimmick than on hole-planning and what\'s left is a course that doesn\'t feel planned or structured and is quite merciless on the casual player.
Appearance  5/10
There are intermittent nice bits, and the planting is generally coherently realised, but it\'s jumbled together with some awful texture transitions and elevations. The bizarre shape-handling has led to some of the worst light-rough and fringe regions I\'ve seen in some time.
Playability  3/10
A round at Lonesome Tree is hard work. Lots of shots are blind and nearly all fairways are narrow enough to restrict your options on each hole. The planted sound is loud, repetitive and intrusive. I can\'t claim to have been won over at all.
Challenge  0/10
It\'s not so much that the course is difficult, but the falling into too many traps through poor design or provision for the player is incredibly frustrating. Too many holes will see a drive disappear into water that really doesn\'t have any right to be there, and assuming you do make the greens, there are a lot of unmakeable or hilly putts.
Technical  4/10
I have no objection to designers trying something new, and in many cases an excellent course has resulted from a gimmicky concept. That\'s not been seen all the way through here: for a large part something that could have worked is not brought home because of the lack of coherent hole design.
Overall It does what it says on the tin. But you might find it\'s less a tin of peaches than a can of worms. 15/50
