COURSE NOTES
St Hellions Cove Mini Golf.
Imaginary Pirate based mini golf course

As the splash screen suggests, this is a pointless exercise in APCD. I have gone a little mad with the 3D stuff, just to see if I could, I couldn't find a limit though.

The only problem I see is when turning textures on their side you get some funny bounces from time to time and also if you hit a ball too hard at the ramps it will go through them rather than over them, nothing can be done about this, and finally you will need to zoom in slightly when using the top cam, the camera works on the hole boundary not the hole itself, again nothing can be done about this, but thanks to Jerry it is a lot better than it was. I have taken this as far as I can and is the best I can do. The course plays as it does and it is what it is.

I have designed this to be fun and visually attractive. It is not a championship course and some holes could have been better. As I have already said it is what it is and will not be to every ones liking.

Many thanks to Daniel Watson for the Palms and stuff, and also to Jerry Garlisch for ironing out a lot of the problems I had whilst creating the course, and not forgetting Ben Batson for spellchecking.... LOL.

Anyway guys that's it, I hope you have fun, please feel free to use anything you want in any creation of your own with my best wishes.

Paul

CLIPNOTES by Ben Bateson (ousgg)

Description
Fictional, short course
Location
The name suggests the Cornish seaside. The trees? I\'m not so sure...
Conditions
I would play on M*/M* or M*/F* for the authentic experience
Concept  7/10
As far as putting courses for Links go, St Hellions is quite able to hold its own. A relatively staid and sober first half leads into a distinctly longer and trickier back nine with a few twists thrown in, the footbridge hole being a particular highlight. It\'s all pieced together with the usual Seaman panache, although in the smaller scale, he doesn\'t quite incite the imagination as in his bigger courses.
Appearance  6/10
It\'s OK, but you never really get beyond believing you\'re playing a course deliberately created by a designer with his tongue in his cheek. The concrete surrounds are blocky and the wrong height, and the lack of minutiae in the surroundings is disappointing. The inevitable windmill aside, I was looking for more of the fun \'extras\' that add charm to any miniature golf course.
Playability  6/10
The obvious target for comparison is with Tim Boche\'s Dred Scott, and St Hellions sadly comes off second-best. Perhaps it\'s easier to create a real miniature golf course than an imaginary one, or perhaps the physics of the APCD (always something of a stab in the dark) are just too much, but the rolls and subtleties of St Hellions are just too well disguised.
Challenge  3/10
It\'s always something of an arbitrary number and if you treat the course as a Par 2.5 (this isn\'t a million miles away: Par 2 front half, and Par 3 back) then you\'ll probably shoot somewhere close to even. However, the game doesn\'t see it that way, and you may have to play a stats-free round if you\'re a numbers-collector.
Technical  6/10
I don\'t think Paul would ever claim this as his masterwork, and it has to be conceded there is some unevenness in the presentation. Perhaps most critically, he seems to have lost the same fun in miniature golf as we saw in the course\'s predecessors
Overall Not quite the little jolly it should have been. Minigolf enthusiasts will see lost opportunities here. 28/50
