DIFF INDEX   The Difficulty Index is a rating system which provides a measure of the relative difficulty of two courses when played under the most challenging conditions (back tees, windy, firm, fast, difficult pins). Ratings for each course were obtained from test play using AI golfers of skill level 79.0 and are derived from a weighted formula that considers score, % of fairways hit, % of greens in regulation, and total putts per round. The Difficulty Index of a particular course represents the ratio of its total score to the mean score of all courses tested. Differences between two courses of .06 or greater are statistically significant. The following table reflects the expected difficulty of a course based on its Difficulty Index score:

1.18 and above Very difficult
1.12 - 1.17 Difficult
1.06 - 1.11 Moderately difficult
0.95 - 1.05 Average
0.89 - 0.94 Moderately easy
0.83 - 0.88 Easy
0.82 and below Very easy
